Bingo—Open to the public The Bingo Committee holds Bingo games every other Wednesday (every Wednesday during the summer months). Click here to view this month’s Bingo schedule. The proceeds from this activity help fund the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Scholarship fund. The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club takes great pride in awarding in excess of $6,000 in scholarships (both two & four year institutions) to graduating seniors of the Cape Hatteras High School. Additionally, the proceeds from the Bingo games makes it possible for the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club to function and help support many organizations that serve the needs of the people of Hatteras Island including but not limited to: The United Methodist Men’s Relief fund; the Lions Club VIP Fishing Tournament for the Blind, The Cape Hatteras School Booster Club and other school events, Hatteras Meals, Hatteras Island Rescue Squad, a room at the Wesley Hospitality House, etc. Finally, since the club is dedicated to Open Beaches, the club strongly supports the Outer Banks Preservation Association (OBPA) in their efforts to maintain free and open beaches and makes substantial donations to OBPA. The United Mobile Sportsman and the American Sportfishing Association are also active in the effort to keep Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area beaches free and open to all. The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club is a proud member of both these organizations and encourages your support as well. |
Members’ Fishing Contest—Members only The club membership fishing contest yields a lot of registered fish throughout the year with hopes of having the largest of the species. The contest is a yearly event that begins on January 1 and ends on December 31. Winning adults will have their names inscribed on a plaque which will be displayed at the Club and junior and youth members will receive a trophy. The Annual Awards Banquet is held the third Saturday of February. |

Monthly Meetings—Members and Their Guests The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club meets the second Saturday of each month September through June at 7:30 pm preceded by a covered dish dinner at 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6:00 pm. The club provides coffee, iced tea & soft drinks and members and guests are allowed to ‘brown bag” provided they are 21 years old or older. Invitational Tournament—Open to the public The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Invitational & Bob Bernard Open Individual Tournament in November of each year is our primary fundraiser to finance the operation of our clubhouse. Bob Bernard Open Individual Tournament—Open to the public The Bob Bernard Open Individual Tournament is held in November on Saturday morning following the last day of fishing for the Invitational Tournament. Fishing Teams—Members Only The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club sends a team of six anglers to participate in both the Ocracoke Tournament in May, the Nags Head and Assateaque tournaments held in October. The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club sends two teams of six anglers to participate in the Hatters Village tournament held in September. The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club pays the entry fee and the expense of bait. The members of the teams are chosen by a random drawing of those interested—want get on the list, click here but first please make sure you are available to fish the tournament you put your name in for. Click here to view the dates for the various tournaments. Remember all tournaments are rain or shine--that is, be prepared to fish in bad conditions if necessary. |
Game Night—Members and their guests Every Saturday the club building opens at 7 pm for an informal gathering of those wishing to play cards or board games such as dominoes. Light refreshments are provided by participants. Click here to check on the current week’s game night. |
New Membership Incentive Plan—Members only A New Member Incentive Plan awards a Cape Hatteras Anglers Club sweatshirt and hat (or a hooded sweatshirt) to those who recruit at least 5 new members (or one new lifetime member) during the calendar year. The member who signs up the most new members each year will be awarded a rod and reel combo with a retail values in excess of $400. Take Me Fishing—Open to the public NO FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED SUSPENDED
Take me fishing is a program sponsored by the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club and the National Park Service. The program that introduces visitors, both young and old, to surf fishing. The program is active from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Fishing sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at ramp 43 in Buxton. There is no fee for this program, all we ask is that you bring bait and pre-register at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Visitors desk by 4:30 pm the Monday or Wednesday prior to the scheduled fishing session you plan to attend. The Cape Hatteras Anglers’ Club supplies the manpower necessary to conduct this program. The fishing gear is donated by a variety of local tackle shops and businesses, manufacturers of tackle, and individuals from the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club. |
