ABOUT The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club

CHAC Members enjoy a mutual interest in surf fishing and promote good fellowship and sportsmanship.

The purpose of CHAC:

  • To promote and develop educational programs for the conservation and preservation of fish and marine life as well as the habitat and environment which sustains them.
  • To cooperate with Federal, State and Local Authorities in the uniform and impartial application and enforcement of pertinent laws, rules and regulations.
  • To promote among its members and the public at large an interest in the advocacy for fishing, marine life and the marine resources of our State. To foster and develop a friendly and harmonious relationship between all anglers. To encourage recreational anglers to practice catch and release techniques as a means of sustaining those resources.
  • To sponsor and conduct events related to fishing and marine life and to provide recognition for the winners of such events sponsored by this or other organizations and to support Educational and Community related activities which serve and benefit Hatteras Island.
  • To serve as a "Watch Dog" organization overall who would close or limit access to our beaches or Marine Resources. To educate the public regarding matters or issues affecting such access and help perpetuate and expand open access to our beaches and resources for all people.
